]]>Words like ‘innovator’ are overused these days but Liam O’Connor is definitely an innovator. Words like supremely talented, master musician, versatile are, likewise thrown around with an alarming degree of ease, but Liam O’Connor is still all these things. None of these words come close to painting a complete picture because none describe the pure passion and excitement and feeling that Liam O’Connor brings to a performance…. and in the end that’s the word that describes him best – Liam O’Connor is first, last and always a performer.

]]>Note to performers: with the number of musicians coming out (awesome) we are asking that we follow these guidelines to ensure that everyone who comes out has a fair chance to share their music:
– when the performers list has less than 12 performers, each musician will play 3 songs and if time allows we will have you come up again for a second set.
– If the songs are longer than average (over 4 minutes), you may be asked to cut your set a song short.
– if the list of performers is over 12 then each performer will play 2 songs so that everyone has a chance to get up.
– performers should try to be tuned up and ready to go when their turn comes up (Lisa will give you a heads up)
– duets will perform as a single act unless each performer is playing solo and just having the other up as back up.
Thank you so much for your patience and cooperation as we try to ensure everyone enjoys their evening.

]]>“Origins” showcases the multicultural mosaic and heritage in Canada, will honour the arts and culture of our First Nations, and conveys a strong message of unity and intercultural understanding at a time of rising xenophobia and Islamophobia to an audience from all backgrounds and all walks of life.
This concert shines a light on Canadian First Nations’ arts and culture, honours our indigenous people and history, and brings to the forefront the spirit of truth and reconciliation that is an important milestone in our country’s history; a milestone which will indelibly drive home that the democratic values of an inclusive society such as ours are shared by all Canadians.
The concert material was prepared jointly by Hassan Tamim (HT) of the Canadian Arabic Orchestra and Choir (CAO) and Laura Grizzlypaws (LG) in liaison with Sufi Canada who are providing the twirling Dervishes.

]]>Down By Law: (90s Skate Punk from California)
Punk rock was never supposed to be about the past, unless it was tearing down society’s bullshit and building something better in its place, and the very idea of a biography runs counter to punk’s principles. It’s not supposed to be about who you were; it’s about who you are. After all, the best punk has always been about change.

OFF BY AN INCH: (Punk Rock from Vancouver)
Off By An Inch, (of Vancouver, BC CANADA), started in 2005, playing energetic melodic punk rock . Reinforced by the band’s harmonic backup vocals, these guys belt out buzzing guitar riffs, bouncing bass hooks, & mile a minute drums to their frontman’s zooming around the stage singing about personal life experiences and self-realizations.

The Fly Downs: (Ottawa Punk)
In the fall of 2016, the trio which would become known as the Fly Downs started making punk rock music directly beneath the flight path of incoming planes.

]]>We’re off to see the Wizard! Experience this brilliant techicolour movie classic on the big screen live with the NAC Orchestra, conducted by Jack Everly.
Celebrate the 80th anniversary of the Academy Award-winning classic by setting out on an adventure with Dorothy, the Scarecrow, Lion and Tin Man as they dance down the Yellow Brick Road to the magical land of Oz.
The brilliant music of Harold Arlen and E.Y. Harburg combined with Judy Garland’s iconic Dorothy will have you singing along to favourites like We’re off to see the Wizard and Over the Rainbow. Marvel at the whimsically colourful world: from the ghoulishly green Wicked Witch of the West to the glittering Glinda the Good Witch and resplendent ruby red slippers.
Starring Judy Garland, the 1939 MGM film earned multiple Oscars including Best Music, Original Score; Best Music, Original Song for Over the Rainbow, and the Academy Juvenile Award for the famed Judy Garland’s legendary performance in the role of the darling heroine.
