This is a group for friends of the legendary Open Stage at Kaffé 1870 every Wednesday from 9pm-12.30am. Curated for over a decade by the late, great, Louis Rompré, we wish to continue the spirit of fun-loving support that he fostered. Please share your relevant pics and posts here. Irrelevant and inappropriate posts will be removed.
I’ll post live video each week so feel free to do whatever you like with it.
Note to performers:
All are welcome to participate, both amateur and professional including all manner of acts such as poetry, comedy, musical theatre, story telling and whatever really. The crowd is welcoming and supportive of both cover and original material. Hey it’s Wakefield!
Please arrive early to get your name on the list. Acts are on a first come, first served basis excepting unusual circumstances. Each act gets up to 3 songs or 15 minutes. Please respect the other acts by not playing 3 lengthy pieces. Please bring your own instruments, cables and anything else you might normally need to do your 3 songs. There are often instruments around but no guarantee you can use them. No backline is provided, just the PA and me to run it.
If you have a detailed setup that takes longer than 5-10 minutes, please arrive at 8pm to setup and line check before the night begins.
Note to guest hosts:
Please arrive at the venue by 8.30 at the latest. The guest host is responsible for warming up the audience with an opening set of up to 45 minutes from 9.00-9.45pm. On very busy nights we may cut the opening set to 3 or 4 songs.
After that the guest host is to help acts prepare, manage the list and introduce/back announce each act. Jamming, costumes, special themes, prizes and general silliness are all encouraged. Please invite friends and share your night on social media as we need enough acts to fill the night. If we run out of acts, the guest host should play out the remaining time.
The night ends at 12.30.

Sounds like a lot of rules and whatnot but we’re pretty laid back. I look forward to seeing you at Kaffe 1870 soon:)
