We wrote a post about weekly open mics a few months ago, but we have added so many more that we decided to focus this week’s feature on this expanding music scene. Open mics are hosted all over the city, which is great! Every area of Ottawa provides an opportunity for musicians to perform their music and for local audiences to see their friends and neighbours perform. Some of the bars that host open mics are well-worn, established music venues in Ottawa–like The Rainbow Bistro and Irene’s Pub– and others are relatively new bars and restaurants that are looking to engage their communities through local music, venues like Bar Robo and Hunter’s Public House. Best of all: every single open mic that we have found has free admission! If you know of any open mics that we have missed, let us know!
