Happy New Year, Ottawa!!
As we start settling into 2017, we are back in the office and back at it: working hard to make sure that we connect you to the most live music in the city.
We launched a mere 6 months ago, but the experience and all the local music we’ve discovered have been nothing short of amazing. Writing about and getting to share such talent spanning a large mix of genres from our very own city has been a privilege. We strive to continue being an invaluable source for Ottawa’s artists and the local music scene. As the months roll on, we’ll have more contests and giveaways to thank Ottawa for all your continued support, and for us in turn, to also support local as much as we can.
So do you (or you and your band) have an upcoming release ? Are you playing an upcoming show? Do you have a favourite local band that deserves some love? We’d love to hear it! Shoot us an email at [email protected]. Let us in on some of the details: when the release/event is happening, a little bit about yourself/your band, and where we can hear your tunes. Let us share in your excitement and get the word out to Ottawa!
We couldn’t be more excited and more thankful to share this upcoming year of music and live shows with you!
On a bit more serious note, we would like to highlight the show being put on by RockSteady Bookings at Live On Elgin tomorrow night, January 7th, called Face the Blues. It’s to raise awareness and break the stigma associated with mental illness. This is a very important issue (one that is very near to my heart) and I truly commend everyone involved with this event. There will be 3 local artists/bands lending their musical talents for the night, including: Annie Martel, Jessica Pearson and the East Wind, and Neverfriend, as well as awesome Brooklynites: The Falling Birds. This will be an amazing show, and it is so imperative to get the word about this subject; so please get out there and support this cause. Advance tickets are $5, $10 at the door, with proceeds from sales going to the Youth Services Bureau of Ottawa / Bureau des services à la jeunesse.
