Still looking for a good music party to spend your last hours of 2016? Here is part II of our list of things to do on NYE that still have tickets available, and are guaranteed to be a good time!
Probably the most mysterious NYE event on our list is hosted by Ottawa death-metal-core band Peronicus’s DLC (Drunken Liquor and Cheeseburger) Party. This EP release/NYE bash will be held at a secret location, near Lincoln Fields Station, admission is $10 and includes free drinks all night. Peronicus is joined by Ottawa’s The Botched Suicides and Hamilton’s Death Perception, who will be playing in the New Year. If you’re planning on going to what we think may be Ottawa’s most obscure party–with the highest potential for personal risk and likely to be Ottawa’s craziest NYE party–contact Peronicus directly to RSVP. Did we mention they’ll be selling $1 cheeseburgers? What even is this party?
Just across the river, Minotaure is hosting a funk and poutine NYE party! Stuff yourself with all-you-can-eat poutine then dance it all off. Funk-A-Tron 5000, Ottawa/Gatineau’s premiere funk music machine and self described as “funk, hip hop, jazz, baby making music,” will be funking up the party before and well after midnight. Doors at 8pm, tickets $25. Dance 2016 away!
House of Targ has a ska-tastic lineup for NYE night. Resident DJs Christian LONGSHOT and DJ Magnificent will be joined by guest DJ BOSSCHOPS spinning ska, raggae, and rocksteady live on vintage 45s. Ska/rocksteady band, The Sentries, will also perform live! AND all pinball machines and arcade games will be set to free play. Targ is asking that guests look their snazziest and are recommending everyone come dressed in their best black and white. Doors at 9 pm, $15. Get tickets here.
If you’re out in the burbs of Nepean and don’t want to endure the hassle of going downtown and back, Greenfields Gastro Public House is hosting a fancy dinner and show featuring The Paperboys. The Paperboys are an Ottawa-based Canadian and classic rock band that performs a varied repertoire of well-worn rock and original tunes. Their members have played with great Canadian acts like Alanis Morrisette, Eight Seconds and The Cooper Brothers. Greenfields GPH is offering three options: five-course dinner and the show starting at 8pm, $125; just the show starting at 10 pm, $20; three course meal only (you should really stay to see the show) 5-8 pm, $49.
